Coral Coast
The Coral Coast stretches for 80 kilometres along the Queens Road between Nadi and Suva, featuring beautiful beaches and bays. Its name comes from the wide coral banks offshore, particularly between Korotogo and Pacific Harbour.
Fringed by lush hills and a reef that drops sharply into the deep blue South Pacific Ocean, this stretch offers some of the most scenic views along the Queens Road. Much of the Coral Coast experiences tidal changes that expose large sections of the reef for extended periods. Except for a few lagoons, swimming and snorkelling are generally only safe at high tide. Sovi Bay, located 2.5 kilometres east of Korotogo, is considered one of the better swimming beaches, though visitors should be cautious of strong channel currents. The iconic photos of pristine white sandy Fijian beaches were likely not taken along the Coral Coast.
